Kicking it up a notch for the winter garden… The weather and the time of year are conspiring to give us some nice stuff out of the greenhouse, and even some out of the main garden this week. Lettuce is especially showing progress, getting some size to the Bibb and the Romaine style heads. And, for the first week, there will be a few radishes. The first radish out of the chute is a funny shaped long root called “Dragon.” It is new this year, it will be interesting to see how you all like it.
- Greens: Winter Density, Adriana lettuce; Winter Bloomsdale Spinach; Red Kale, Curley Mustard, and possibly some small Cabbage. There were two tiny cabbage given out last week.
- Root crops: Carrots, over-wintered Avalanche beets (greens are really good), Parsnip if you want, radishes
- Herbs: Arugula, Green onions, Garlic
New beets and pac choi and turnips are still coming. There are only a small number of turnips because they haven’t been that popular. It would be best if you asked for them. New snap peas won’t be ready till green season thanks to the birds sneaking into the greenhouse and feasting.
